MRI is a safe, non-invasive imaging technique. A powerful magnet and radio waves combined with an advanced computer system produce accurate, detailed pictures of organs and tissues to diagnose a variety of medical conditions. MRI does not use ionizing radiation.

Patients are invited to bring a CD of their favorite music to enjoy during their scan. A friend or family member can stay with them, as well. A two-way communication system allows constant contact with the technologist. With head studies, a mirror helps the patient see out of the scanner. Your comfort is important in acquiring quality exams.

Our MRI

• Is a Ultra-short (1.5m), ultra-wide-bore (65.5 cm) system
  which delivers patient friendly exams and high performance applications

• Pianissimo TM technology reduces scan noise by as much
  as 90% compared to other 1.5 Tesla systems. (Avotec Silent Scan
  sound system provides additional noise cancellation) The loudest
  scans are 80 dB – a lawnmower produces about 90 dB of sound.

• The new magnet offers twice the homogeneity of other
  1.5T systems, providing more even signal across the image area.

• “SPEEDER” multi-channel parallel processing supports high-speed,
  high-quality imaging

• The wide bore on the machine allows for patients up to 440 pounds
  to be scanned comfortably

Preparation

• Most MRI exams require no prep before the scan.
